Swan Machinery. Leads Revision of National Standard for Safety Requirements of Cotton Processing Machinery

On August 4, the kickoff meeting for the revision of the mandatory national standard Safety Requirements for Cotton Processing Machinery, led by Shandong Swan Cotton Industrial Machinery Stock Co., Ltd., was successfully held in Jinan. Over 30 participants, including industry experts from research institutes, industry associations, and universities, core technical staff of the company, and representatives from cotton machinery manufacturers, attended the meeting to officially commence the revision of this national standard.

The meeting specially invited five experts to form an expert panel to provide comprehensive guidance throughout the revision process. The panel members include Chen Junbao, Researcher at the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Mechanization Sciences; Tan Zhifang, Secretary-General of the Cotton Industry Branch of the China Cotton Association; Wang Ruixia, Professor-level Senior Engineer at the Zhengzhou Cotton and Jute Engineering Technology Design Institute of the All China Federation of Supply and Marketing Cooperatives; Xu Shoudong, Professor at Anhui University of Finance and Economics; and Han Xingchang, a member of the Party Committee at the Shandong Academy of Agricultural Machinery Sciences.

Gao Haiqiang, Deputy General Manager of the company, delivered the opening speech. He welcomed the experts and industry representatives to Jinan and introduced Swan Co., Ltd.'s years of deep engagement in the cotton processing equipment sector, as well as its extensive experience in actively leading and participating in the formulation and revision of multiple national and industry standards. He stated that as a crucial mandatory national standard in the field, Safety Requirements for Cotton Processing Machinery plays a vital role in ensuring the safe operation of cotton machinery, protecting the personal safety of frontline operators, and regulating industry production. As the lead organization, the company will fully leverage its technological and industrial advantages, make every effort to provide organizational and logistical support for drafting the standard, widely incorporate feedback from all parties, and ensure that the revised standard aligns with industry realities, incorporates advanced technology, and is practically implementable, thereby contributing to the safe and high-quality development of the cotton processing industry.

Speaking on behalf of the expert panel, Chen Junbao provided guiding opinions on policy orientation, current industry status, technological development trends, and safety indicator control for the standard revision. He clarified the overall principles, key focus areas, and milestones of this revision. He expressed the hope that the drafting team would base their work on the actual working conditions at cotton processing enterprises, balance the practical needs of both equipment manufacturers and end-users, and enhance the scientific rigor, strictness, and applicability of the standard.

Subsequently, the attending experts and enterprise representatives conducted a detailed, clause-by-clause review of the initial draft of the revised Safety Requirements for Cotton Processing Machinery. Combining insights on the iterative upgrades of cotton processing equipment, pain points in on-site safety production, and practical issues encountered during the implementation of existing standards, participants engaged in thorough discussions on core technical content, including the scope of application, mechanical protection, safety requirements for hazardous parts, and safety warnings. They shared their views freely and proposed multiple practical and feasible modification suggestions for the standard framework and technical clauses, further clarifying the subsequent roadmap for the revision work.
